Kindergarten will be returning to campus on Sept. 29, Head of School Lee Thomsen wrote in a Sept. 25 email to the Country Day community.
The announcement came after days of uncertainty following the Sept. 17 postponement of the K-5 return to in-person learning.
The lower school was originally granted a waiver for in-person learning on Sept. 10. However, a Sept. 17 update to the County guidelines prohibited specialty — art, music and language — teachers from interacting in-person with multiple cohorts.
In response, the school developed a new schedule that follows the updated guidelines, Thomsen wrote.
K-5 will attend in-person classes for part of the day, then return home for remote specialty classes for the remainder of the school day.
The lower school will use a staggered schedule to welcome back its students.
- Kindergarten will return Tuesday, Sept. 29.
- First grade will return Thursday, Oct. 1.
- Second grade and third grade will return Monday, Oct. 5.
- Fourth grade and fifth grade will return Wednesday, Oct. 7.
