Movie night to resume after last year’s cancellation

UPDATE: Due to poor air quality, the high school movie night was canceled. The rescheduled event date is currently undecided.

With in-person learning to start the school year, the annual high school movie night is set to take place Friday, Aug. 27 at 7 p.m. Due to COVID-19, the event was canceled last year.

Staying with tradition, movie night will follow the familiar schedule: locker distribution followed by a showing of “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” with snacks and drinks.

The only change: students will not receive paper copies of their schedules and advisers. They will be able to access that information through their CavNet portal, said Dean of Student Life and Student Council adviser Patricia Jacobsen.

In light of the ongoing pandemic, Dean of Student Life and Student Council adviser Patricia Jacobsen said the school will encourage students to social distance and wash their hands frequently. Mask-wearing will be enforced.

Additionally, Jacobsen said she wants students to socialize and enjoy the event. As such, students will be asked to put their phones away for the evening.

The Student Council will also be distributing red shirts to sophomores and juniors and black shirts to freshmen and seniors in preparation for a “pre- Ancil Hoffman game,” Jacobsen said. The game will take place during orientation on Monday, Aug. 30.
